Concerns for "my normal" and "time wasting"

Hi everyone.

I used this chat a couple of years ago when I noticed changes to my breast and the chats were really helpful, HOWEVER at my visit to the breast clinic I felt like they seen me as a HUGE time waster, there was something there and something on an US but they believed it to be a bruise i felt very uncomfortable with how i was spoken to and treated, anyhoo

In December, yes I know a long time to ignore something a large red patch appeared on my left breast. I thought it was a spot or something and ignored it, however it went purple and has never disappeared, my partner pecked at me as he should to get it seen but I felt so worried I would be made to feel like a time waster again, however around 3 weeks ago my brest started "puckering" and pulling inward under the coloured mark.

I've seen my GP and got my referral to the breast clinic tomorrow 27th I'm so concerned as this is not my normal, and I suppose I just want to hear that it's OK to advocate for ourselves. After all we know our bodies or should!. At my previous visit it was NOT a one stop clinic due to staff shortages it took 4 months of back and forth to be told they believe its all OK. As I'm currently feeling there's NOWAY I can walk away from that clinic tomorrow with another 4 week wait for an US etc.

Sorry to ramble just anxiety kicking my ***

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your previous experience at the breast clinic and how it made you feel. It's completely understandable why you were reluctant to go back and I can see from another post you made yesterday that you had another negative encounter.

I'm sure you will receive some support and advice from our members soon but if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

You may also be able to get further support and advice in relation to this from the specialist nurses at Breast Cancer Now.

    Kind regards,
