Hi,
I had an appointment with my Neurologist on Thursday regarding back pain, headaches and nerve pain that I have had for a few years that has gotten worse the last 6 months. I had an MRI back in May 2022 where they have flagged up a possible syrinx on my spine but they don’t know if it’s that for sure. As well as my spinal fluid doesn’t seem to be flowing properly? I don’t know if that’s accurate.. it was a lot to take in/process.
During my appointment he did an assessment on me with my reflexes/balance etc and seemed to be concerned with the results of some of the sensation in my back being number than other areas. This area that is numbish is also around where the ‘syrinx’ is. He told me that he wanted further tests done (an MRI with the dye?, a head scan & also a bladder scan). He said we need to get to the bottom of what’s causing this possible syrinx and did mention a possible tumour. I’ve now been referred to another hospital and he is meeting with other drs to discuss a plan for me. I don’t know when these other tests/scans will be or whether to expect a letter/phonecall from him after his meeting on Tuesday about me? This whole process is new to me.
Im only 21 and I’ve had to head back to uni for the time being so not sure what I’m supposed to expect over the next few weeks. My neurologist seems very determined and intrigued by this situation which I am very grateful for.. It’s just been a lot to take in. I haven’t felt I can talk to anyone around me about how I’m feeling so I thought I’d give this a shot. Any advice or similar experiences I’d appreciate.
Thanks :)
