How do i get through the waiting without going mad I just feel completely scared
Hi, you are not alone in your fear and there are a few of us at the same stage of waiting for the what if’s.
I read on another chat that someone rightly said that you need to remember it’s not cancer until they tell you it’s cancer.
our thoughts take us down a dark rabbit hole and it’s difficult to get out of it but you have to try the best you can.
I am spending my weekend binge watching an old favourite tv show and walking the dogs. I will get in the kitchen later and cook for the family and maybe bake some goodies as that’s my happy place.
it doesn’t make the fear go away but if I try hard then I can squash it as much as possible
tomorrow is my appt with the breast specialist and all of my own calming ideas will be out of the window I’m sure! Bit you have to try
xx
Aww good luck for tomorrow I have to wait till the 6th it just seems like forever and my mind runs away and even more with goggle I really have got to stop xx
Hi Vickie,
I
Hi Vickie,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
I am glad to see that you have your breast clinic appointment tomorrow and I hope that it all goes well. I don't know what your symptoms are, but not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts, fibroadenoma or due to hormonal changes. It is a fact that only 20% of those referred to the clinic, will get a cancer diagnosis.
I shall be thinking of you tomorrow.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
HI Justme,
A very warm welcome to our clinic.
This wait is one of the scariest times of anyone's cancer journey. Try to keep yourself busy, whether with work or pleasure - anything to take your mind off the wait. We usually advise people at this stage to stay away from Google. Much of the information there is aimed at the more spectacular cases, is out of date and can be poorly researched. All of these factors don't apply to you, don't give you any answers and will only serve to scare you further.
March 6th is not too far away now, but just be aware that if you need a biopsy, you may have to wait about another 2 weeks for the results of this. Please also see the facts that I have put in my reply to Vickie's post, as I hope that you may find them reassuring.
I shall be thinking of you on 6th.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Thankyou ️ It's been really hard not to focus on any thing other than it ... bur today iv decided I need to stop and to keep myself busy and calm ...thankyou again Leanne xx
Hi Leanne,
I agree. I've had 2 bouts of breast cancer, but that was 14 years ago now and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life, so don't give up hope!
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
