Post menopausal bleeding for 21 days

Hi

About a month ago I bled lightly for 21 days 7 years post menopausal  so I was referred for an ultrasound and hysteroscopy and Endemetriol biopsy.

having had both done my consultant says all looks fine and we just need to wait for the biopsy results

im liking the words all looks fine but I’m still left wondering if there’s a chance it can still be cancer.

i was wondering if anyone else has had a similiar experience?

thank you

  • Hello Scoobymillie and a big welcome to our forum,

This sounds rather reassuring that the consultant said all looks fine. It's a bit of a waiting game now as you are waiting for confirmation that this is nothing concerning and the biopsy results will hopefully tell you more about what might have caused this bleeding. Biopsy results usually take a couple of weeks to come through and I am keeping everything crossed for you that these do not flag anything and that you can be fully reassured soon.

Hopefully you will hear from others who have had a similar experience and they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,

  • I’m in the same boat. I started to bleed heavily last June. It was on and off for around three months. 4 years after my last period. The doctor sent me for a ultrasound scan and everything was fine and the bleeding stopped by itself. Then in January of this year it started again 3 bleeds in 6 weeks. The doctor referred me to gynaecologists. I am now on the fast track cancer referral. In the last two weeks I’ve had a ultrasound and a biopsy taken. The results of which I’m still waiting for. Nobody told me what the results of the scan showed up ( if anything) I just got a phone call telling me I’d been booked for the biopsy. I’m now waiting for the results with no clue what is going on. Sorry i didn’t think this going to help reassure you.

  • Hello, yes I have just had a biopsy done 7mm womb lining, it was excruciatingly painful. The doctor also said my ovaries and uterus were fine it was just the lining was a little bit thick it should have been 4mm. They said it would be four to six weeks before I get results.  I only went on 3rd April, so it is pretty early yet.  Doctor said I would be contacted by phone if urgent.  I am hoping not, but I am dreading this week coming I will be listening for phone all the time, again I hope not.  I this post was one month ago did you get your letter and are you ok, I hope so.
