Breast cancer / Pagets

Hi is anyone else going through a cancer scare that relates to one nipple? I have three weeks to wait for the breast clinic and trying my hardest to keep busy and not panic but it’s incredibly difficult.
it started three weeks ago with itching on one nipple and I didn’t think much of it. After three weeks I went to the GP as noticed it was a bit red. When she looked at it she said it was very angry and prescribed steroids which haven’t touched it, anti fungal cream - hasn’t touched it and antibiotics - hasn’t touched it. It’s red raw and appears to be the milk ducts but now getting prickling through the rest of the breast.

Not sure what I’m really asking to be honest but hoping to keep calm and talk to other people having similar problems

Thanks

  • Hiya,

I just joined as I have itching in one nipple, have had eczema type flare ups and the itching is insane, skin affected started on arela and itching has now spread to nipple, creams help for a while but don't take it away. Dr has referred me urgently to breast clinic so now I wait.

Just wanted to post to say you're not the only one waiting and worrying, I am too and hopefully we can support each other xx

  • Hi Bumble so sorry you are going through this too. It’s awful this wait isn’t it. I’ve managed to get an appointment for Tuesday but am petrified. Just have a very bad feeling about as it’s clearly not right :(

    when were you referred x

  • Snap Justme I’m due on today and it’s making my ability to cope very difficult! Boob feels terrible today like an internal tightness, itching burning.
this time in 48 hours I’m either going to be very very scared or relieved … or possibly still in limbo lol

  • That's the way I feel about going Wednesday its really not a good way to feel I don't know how I have got through the last few weeks it all seems a blrur ..... but I definitely got major anxiety and uffy eyes from it all  xx

  • It’s awful isn’t it. I’m supposed to be working and have been googling for two blooming hours again. It needs to stop! Hope you can get through today easily. I need this over now x

  • I feel the same it's most awful living in limbo xx

  • I think I've read every pagets thread I can find on Google and some people have symptoms similar to mine. I went last year and got cream but it always comes back so went two weeks ago and gp said possibly pagets, gave me cream then said review with her in 2 weeks, back on Thursday and she said she wants pagets ruled out and that the referral would be urgent but she didn't say how long.

Initially she thought it could be shingles that had residual itching but then when she came to examine me as soon as she looked she mentioned pagets so that's made me worry she thought it by looking at it but as I've said it doesn't look like much so I don't know if I'm putting 2 and 2 together and getting 15 lol

  • I just thinknwe all end up adding everything up and thinking all sorts honestly I have made my self ill these last few weeks I I feel my boobs anymore ....oh I dunno it just awful x

  • Honestly, the chances of us having it are very slim to begin with and the fact that it's such a rare type reduces the odds further so I keep taking comfort in that. Plus I think if I was at the gp last year, surely by this stage I would have had some other symptoms so I try and not get carried away.

The thing is.....because we can feel it itching, it's harder to escape in your mind. Is your app early on Wed?

  • Definitely Bumble, I have been looking at Pagets group on Facebook and it seems quite well treated these days. The GP hasn’t helped you there by naming it! Although mine said breast cancer so I guess it’s the same in reality. Today’s worry is that it’s inflammatory breast cancer. It’s making me ill x

  • I agree Justme lots of little things add to the panic and the brain goes into over drive. I’ve got a feeling I won’t have an answer tomorrow and will need more tests so not expecting to feel relieved x

  • I read that I'll get answers same day except if I need a biopsy that can take 3-5 days but I also read the only way to confirm is biopsy. Sometimes they can see it on an MRI but I don't know if my clinic does MRI's, I know that doesn't change anything lol

  • Same for me. I’ve been before and was diagnosed there and then with benign breast thickening but that was a lot easier to see as the mammogram showed it. I think with skin changes it’s only the biopsy that can rule in or out cancer . The mammogram is good to check there’s no other lumps in the boob that you can’t feel so obv still want that to be clear. I’m praying it’s something to do with the peri menopause x
