Confused about breast problem- awaiting breast clinic

Hi

im so confused more than reassured right now. I went to the docs earlier as I had what I thought was breast discharge- I noticed white dots surrounding both nipples -but when she checked she said it wasn’t and just normal nipple anatomy. She did a breast exam and said there was thickening of tissue on my right breast and referred me to breast clinic. Of course I was upset and thank god for my supportive partner he paid for me to have a breast ultrasound today as I was so anxious. she scanned and my right breast was normal and it’s the left that showed something. The sonographer said it was a fibroadenoma, on the same side axilla she said Lymph was slightly enlarged but had no colour flow which she described as good, She wasn’t worried in the slightest about my findings but said still go to breast clinic.

why am I still so scared :(

    the report

  • I don’t understand the measurements either

  • Hello Nhj91,

I am so sorry to hear you are feeling confused at the moment but you did the right thing in seeing the doctor when you noticed those white dots around your nipples. It was very nice of your partner to pay for you to have an ultrasound straight away - it's reassuring that the sonographer didn't find any red flags and was not alarmed and that they think it's just fibroadenoma. Breast Cancer Now have more information on fibroadenoma which is a very common benign breast condition.

It's normal though to be scared as you are waiting for your breast clinic appointment and as your sonographer said, it's important to still go to your appointment and you could share these findings from the ultrasound with the specialists you see at the breast clinic as they will be able to interpret these for you and explain everything in detail.

Unfortunately no one on the forum will have the medical expertise to tell you what the measurements and the findings from the report mean but I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been through this before and have been told they had a fibroadenoma and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

I hope that you won't have to wait long for the breast clinic appointment and that it will merely confirm that there is nothing concerning and that you are just dealing with a fibroadenoma.

    Best wishes,
