Cancer Pathway

I wanted to share this post on here as back in December seeing positive out come stories gave me hope

Back in September I had very unusual heavy bleeding, I had always suffered from heavy periods but they were always regular - however this time the bleeding didnt stop for 3 weeks so I contacted my GP who sent me for a scan

The scan found a cyst on one of my ovaries and a thickened lining (30mm) at the time the GP wasnt too worried and I was left for 6 weeks, I then had a 2nd scan and this is when things went from 0 to 100!!

I had a second scan, the sonographer told me she was going to refer me to gynae and within 2 days my GP rung me to tell me I was being put for an urgen referral for a “complex cyst” now the one thing he didnt tell me was that it was called “2 week cancer pathway” as you can imagine I was beside myself and I googled everything, all day every day!! I came on this site so many times to find positive stories and the negative ones so i could brace myself for what maybe was to come for me

Within a week of that second scan, I had blood tests (one being the CA125) which i had no idea what it was until I googled, I had an appointment at the hospital, and eventually I was booked in for surgery to remove the cyst

The surgeon said my lining was still very thick so they took biopsies,

It took four weeks for my results to come through (christmas and new year was in between this) and the wait was horrendous!!

Thankfully the cyst was benign and was just a cyst however I have been diagnosed with “endometrial hyperplasia” luckily its the simple kind and hopefully with hormone treatment and losing weight they are hopeful the pre cancerous cells will go

Sorry for the long story but I wanted to share in case anyone else is going through the same!! It was the scariest time in my life so far but what i have learnt is other people will get you through

Also dont google, its sooo hard not to do but i promise you it wont help!!
