Frustrated

I’m just looking for a place to vent, I’ve been waiting for test results forever.

It’s a long story but I’ll keep it brief, I’ve had problems with my immune system in the past few years, I’ve had abscesses where I shouldn’t, sepsis from catching a cold, not little things, my blood tests are always abnormal, chronic high lymphocytes, deranged LFTs, raised CRP, fevers and horrendous night sweats, there is clearly something wrong but it’s still an absolute battle to get anywhere.

My GP has been liaising with haematology and they would only do further testing if I met a certain criteria after 3 months, so after that wait I still met the criteria so great news the tests were done! However that was in November, and I’m still waiting, my doctors just gave me a blood form to take to hospital for them to do the blood test, it had the type of test written on it so I’m aware that they are looking for blood cancer, my symptoms pretty much fit that idea, but the most I’ve got out of a GP is sometimes people have abnormal cells so you are probably fine, and fob me off with we can’t do anything until the tests come back.

It may sound like I’m complaining, but I have had an awful lot of tests done, so I know that I’ve had a lot of things ruled out and that the NHS was excellent at ruling out acute causes, but now it’s looking more chronic it’s so painfully slow, I have chased my GP for the results, and I’ve also contacted PALs at the hospital where I had bloods taken, I just feel like they’ve been lost and I just can’t stand to wait all over again.

Any advice is welcome, especially for the waiting anxiety! Or any next steps suggestions.

  • Hello Megan786

I'm sorry to hear about all that you've been dealing with regarding your health recently. it's understandable that you're feeling frustrated.

Whilst it's good to hear that the test results you've had to date haven't given any immediate cause for concern, obviously, that doesn't help you in getting answers or improving your situation.

What did PALS say when you got in touch with them? Were they able to give you any indication of what was happening or some reassurance that your test results were still being processed? Do get back in touch with them if you're not happy with things as it's part of their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS. They will also be able to give you information about how you can make a formal complaint.

I do hope that you have some answers soon and that they reveal the information needed to help improve your health situation.

    Best wishes,
