Lump in breast

Hi so I noted a lump left breast 2 months ago it not painful but tender if pressed alot. It in strange place inner breast feels close chest wall you can and you cansee it when I'm standing or sat but lying down more difficult.

I was ref to breast clinicsaw consultant who examined lying diwnfekt it wasn't anything mammagram was incredibly painful left but ok right. Ultra sound scan she literally scanned half my left bresst I don't think she fully scanned area where lump is and said nothing worry about and then a nurse said u csn go it all fine.

No explanation for the lump at all

I remain with a lump I remain worried and I'm unsure what I can do

I looked at private mri scanbut very difficult without cost over £1000

Has anyone experienced this what can I do the lump is firm and after few months it's not going away

  • Hi Madwife75,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you weren't given any answers as to what your breast lump is. Not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts, fibroadenoma, or due to hormonal changes. It is a fact that only 20% of those who attend the breast clinic, will get a cancer diagnosis, so it sounds as if you may be one of the lucky ones.

Your GP will have received a report of the findings from the breast clinic, and should be able to tell you the conclusions.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xxx

  • Sounds like you're very lucky and it's nothing. I had a similar situation. Lump in left breast. Monday, I had a mammogram and an ultrasound and she shocked me as had to take 3 biopsies and another mammogram and now an MRI as the ultrasound lady and the consultant were concerned. Chase it up and good luck.

  • I'm so sorry hear your worry. And I totally feel I could be lucky but also feel I was dismissed as they didn't even scan the correct area where the lump is its inner breast so close to central ribcage

  • I'd ask your Dr for a re check if you're worried. My consultant circled the area I said the lump was in and the ultrasound nurse said it wasn't even in the correct place. I hope you get sorted and feel more at ease soon. R

  • Go back and insist - don't be fobbed off you know your own body and make sure you are satisfied with the explanation.  Speaking from personal experience, I was fobbed off for 5 months, multiple mammograms and ultrasounds were clear but I had a lump, inverted nipple, orange peel skin all the signs and finally a biopsy was taken.  Not all breast cancers are seen on mammograms and ultrasounds and health professionals know this.  I wish you well and hope you get some answers and I really hope for you that it is nothing serious.  Take care.
