Ovarian Cyst in Stroma

Good evening,

30 year old women with 2 children experienced a very long, heavy period for around 8 weeks back in November. On and off for days at a time after until January. I am very low iron so on prescribed meds of folic acid. 2 lots of bloods done and my CA125 is only at 10. I have been and had an ultrasound which found 2 cysts one in each ovary and the left one is within my stroma within my ovary. Both have vascularity present in both. Apperances aren’t typical!
I’ve been now experiencing pelvic pain, serve swelling and bloating, lower back and side pain and no further bleeding whatsoever. I’m struggling to sleep and lie on either side.
Got my gyno appointment on the 20th at a private hospital but the thought of being this uncomfortable and in pain for so long is taking its toll on my mental health.

any one in the same position and can give some advice?
any advice for pain relief to help settle me would be amazing. Paracetamol isn’t touching the sides.

  • Hi chlsea_dancer,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties - this sounds like a lot to manage - it's good to hear that it's not too long to wait until your appointment and so I hope you're able to find out more soon and to get some relief from the pain.

You may wish to post in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum regarding your question on pain relief, although typically your doctor would be the best person to speak to if you can, particularly if you are continuing to struggle.

My reply here will boost your post, so hopefully you'll get some more replies from other members of our forum. We are always here for support if you need it.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi, hope you’re doing okay. Sorry to hear that you’re having a difficult time.

Whilst I don’t have any info/advice on pain relief, I thought I’d message as I am in a very similar boat to you.
I am 25, take prescribed folic acid, and have experienced very irregular and extended bleeding also a long with some pelvic pain/pressure. My ultrasound showed a complex cyst with a solid vascular component in my left ovary, and my CA125 was only 9.

I wondered how your gyno appointment went, and if you may have any advice / info on what to expect please? Thank you

  • I was just wondering what the outcome was for both of you? In a similar position

  • Hi,

I had a consultation with the gynaecologist who then referred me for an MR for further imaging of the cyst. I’ve now had the results that have said it is likely to be a hemorrhagic or endometrioma cyst that they think is benign. I’m trying to be reassured by this but the consultant originally said that they could only tell for sure if the cyst was benign by removing it! So now I feel a bit in limbo, but trying to just remind myself if it was concerning there would surely be a follow up appointment!
Hope everything goes well for you x
