It’s getting closer, expecting the unexpected

Hi,

Today it will have been 4 weeks since I had a liver MRI and MRCP. Although I haven’t heard what exactly is going on, it has been a very busy week!

Last Tuesday I found out that the Gastroenterologist Registrar requested an ECG and a lot of hospitalised / specialist type blood tests (including a JAK2 test).

My veins are so bad that after last week, enough blood was finally drawn from my arm yesterday- although I seem to be taking another infection.

I’m aware that my GP knows something as I’ve been sick for months and I know for sure that whatever is going on involves him, a consultant haematologist & a gastroenterologist as I asked.

Am I going crazy or does this look like a multidisciplinary team?

I knew something bad was wrong with me as I’m not getting better but I now keep thinking the worst. My head is going round in circles.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

  • Hi Hope4132,

I'm sorry to hear you've been waiting a while now to find out more. It's very difficult to advise on this - it sounds like they are doing a number of different tests to find out what they need to, and I hope that this happens as soon as possible so that you're not waiting too much longer. Keep in touch with your doctor so you can understand potential next steps and when you might get more information.

I hope that it's not too much longer for you to wait to get any results. In the meantime we're always here for support if you need it.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
