Indent in breast no lump

On Saturday I found an indent on my left breast. Only visible when my arms are lowered. I have something similar on my right slightly higher up.

I'm absolutely petrified. Google obviously says cancer.

I'm going to get a doc appointment as soon as I can but I feel so alone right now.

I had a scare last year when I found a lump which turned out to be nothing. But I can't let go of the dread and fear.

I also have serious health anxiety which isn't helping.

  • Hi Scaredmumma1 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the indent you found but I'm glad you're going to get this checked by your GP and hope you now have an appointment since making this post.

I know this must be scary but our community are here for you Scaredmumma1 and I'm sure it won't be long until some of our members who have been in a similar position stop by to offer their support and advice.

Living with health anxiety can be very tough but I hope some of the tips and advice given here will help calm your mind until you know more.

We're thinking of you Scaredmumma1 and hope the indent, just like the lump you found last year, will be no cause for concern.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi scaredmummal,

I have posted recently regarding my breast problems and LCIS. I am sorry you're feeling anxious, it can feel lonely when you haven't yet got answers. I also have an indent when I pull up my arms.i am no doctor but it's probably just my benign breast changes causing the dent.My yearly mammogram results were ok this time even with a dent where i didn't have a lumpectomy. So please try not to worry ( easier said than done) .I used to worry every time I have a lump/ thickening / and was worried about the dent when i first noticed it. As soon as you get the doctor's appointment you will hopefully start feeling more in control as they can support you and get all the tests done if needed. I have found it much easier having the support of others even if it's the docs/ breast clinic. Try not to worry as it hasn't happened yet , try and enjoy every day . Please remember not  everything is the big C and breast clinics are brilliant at treating it these days.

I have learnt to put my diagnosis of LCIS in a box in my mind and just carry on. The docs will be there to support you as long as you get that appointment.

    Best wishes,
