High Calprotectin IBS symptoms

Dear members,

I have been living with stomach and acid reflux problems for at least 10 years, I am 39 now, I also have Hemorrhoids and what I thought IBS and when I saw a senior nurse last month for being feeling there is something wrong she took my case seriously and asked for blood tests which all of them came back normal except folic acid and she also requested Calprotectin test which came back so high, she called me informing me that I have been referred urgently for a colonoscopy but she asked me to do two more tests, CEA and FIT.

I just send FIT today and waiting for CEA result.

But I have some questions that may help me and others who may have the same symptoms.

1. From your experience, Is acid reflux a sign of Colon problems, especially Cancer?

2. From your experience, Did you have dull pain that comes and goes in lower right side of abdomen in case of Colon Cancer?

3. From your experience, Did you have bright red blood on the surface of the stool and you thought it is from piles and not from Colon?

4. From your experience, Did you burb more then 20 times a day?

5. From your experience, How long does it take to get CEA and FIT result back? Do they call you or text you whether it is normal or not?

6. From your experience, What kind of fatigue and mood changes you have before being diagnosed?

I would appreciate if you write your experience for me and others to get insight about Colon Cancer and other Colon Problems.

From my side I will update you promptly.

Thanks

  • Hello l.showtime,

I am so sorry to hear that you have been referred for a colonoscopy due to your calprotectin being so high. Waiting for results is not easy and it can feel a like a long process until you get a full diagnosis and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

I hope that you will hear from the insights of our members who may have had the same symptoms and that they will be able to answer your questions by sharing their own stories and experiences.

As you are waiting to find out more and it can be such an anxious time, I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

    Best wishes,
