TWW Haematology ref. ? Lymphoma. Chest discomfort

Good afternoon,

35yr old female.

I have been referred to haematology via the two week wait. I have had ongoing night sweats for about 11 months which have gradually become worse. I wake soaked. I’ve been tired (but also in medical profession and have two young children) and constantly feel run down/pick everything up. Lately I’ve been itchy with no rash which comes and goes. Since having the referral 2 weeks ago, I have seen the haematologist and I have had a CT scan which I am currently awaiting the results of.

My bloods are “normal” that GP completed which I know can be possible.

Since googling (terrible I know), I now know I have been experiencing something else I didn’t think could be related. For a few months now, I wake of a night with a 8/10 pain behind my breast bone, it feels like my sternum bone. It often wakes me and it’s a dull painful ache and it really hurts me to turn over. I just assumed I was sleeping awkwardly (not sure how as I sleep on my side as I have always done). It’s not every night, but a good few times a week. It doesn’t feel muscular. It’s really bizarre.

My question is to those who have had a lymphoma diagnosis and what their chest discomfort felt like? I have no obvious lymph node swellings (small one up in neck but none in armpit or groin).

Feeling quite anxious. I have been going to GP for the last year with the night sweats and tiredness as was convinced could be peri menopausal but all hormone levels are fine.

How would you describe your chest discomfort if you had any? Where your bloods okay?

Thanks so much xx

  • Welcome to the forum Leopardspotslove although I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and the anxious wait you now have for your results.

Hopefully some of our lymphoma members will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They'll do all they can to answer your questions and support you whilst you wait.

I hope this article I've found on how to cope with waiting for news and the advice given on the NHS website for managing anxiety will help as well.

Fingers crossed you won't have to wait too much longer for your results, and you receive good news when the time comes.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
