In May 2023 I starting having extreme pain in my stomach at night under my left lower rib. It would wake me up and I couldn’t make it stop until I drink water (filled my belly) pushing down on my left rib helped a little, end up wi to sore ribs with constantly pushing down. This continued for 4-6 weeks. My belly would rumble painfully and it was embarrassing. One night I woke again in pain but had a “funny turn” I was on the toilet assuming I was going to have diarrhoea. i was in so much pain and sweating a lot. After around 15mins it stopped (I did not pass anything) the next day I passed stool and noticed it was dark, with dark blood in it. I went to the doctor who done bloods abs stool sample, Qfit came back >400. The doctors called me at 6.30 pm to tell me this was serious and the hospital would be looking for cancer. I was then referred as emergency for a colonoscopy and CT (this happened quickly, around 3 week from results of the Qfit) They found nothing untoward. I was deflated at this, in hindsight I should have pushed the fact the issues were in my stomach and hadn’t realised they would not CT that area. (Bowel and stomach are two different departments) I was the. Referred to upper department. I waited 3 months for a call (November) . The consultant was completely uninterested in anything I had to say, told me me bowel were clear then went on to say the reason I had bleeding when passing stool is from constipation- I don’t have constipation nor strain to pass stool. She told me the wait would be March/April. I had been able to manage most of the pain with pain killers, anti sickness etc. but I had lost weight, I got into a new “normal” for eat etc to try stop it being sore. 

this week- 29th jan 2024. I called the hospital to see if an appointment had been made yet. The lovely receptionist told me the consultant should never of said 4 month wait as it’s 51 weeks from referral (Novermber) I nearly cried. I said I was sorry but I couldn’t wait that long, I would travel if need be or take a cancellation appointment. She called me back 4 hours later to tell me my appointment will be this Friday- I cried! For 9 months I have had pain everyday, pain that make me rock myself it’s so bad, I can hardly eat much at one sitting. 

symptoms- 

extreme pain left lower rib

high level of blood in stool

heart burn

hiccups (random ones throughout the day, everyday) 

exhausted (not sure if this is due to the pain) 

pressure on ribs helps a little 

H-pylori is not confirmed

burping 

feeling sick-acid in throat/mouth
