Could it be womb cancer?

Hi, I had a scan yesterday and saw the consultant today. He said I have fluid in the lining of my womb and it’s thickened so I’m booked in to have a biopsy next month. I also have a fibroid. I have fibromyalgia so I have regular pain but more than a year ago I started with severe lower back pain that I would wake up screaming as it is so bad, then around a year ago I started with pelvic pain especially in my groins. It’s so bad in the night now. That I don’t get enough sleep. I’m worried that this could be signs of womb cancer. Does anyone else have these sort of pains. I’m being sent for physio but it makes me feel worse. Now my dr thinks it might be poly myalgia so wants to put me on steroids. I’m so confused and worried. I’m 63. Any advice would be welcome please.

  • Hello Motherjoy and welcome to our community.

I'm sorry to hear your experience all of this discomfort and is understandably concerned. That being said, it's positive that you've taken steps to investigate the situation, including having a scan and consulting with a healthcare professional.

The symptoms you're experiencing can be complex, especially considering your fibromyalgia. Engaging in open communication with your healthcare team about the impact of physiotherapy and the proposed steroid treatment is crucial for understanding your unique situation.

I hope that others here who can relate to your situation will come along shortly to chat with you and offer insight. Until they do, if you think that asking questions to someone with a medical background might help, our team of nurses can be reached on this number 0808 800 4040 Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope you feel better soon, Motherjoy and that the tests show nothing sinister.

    Best wishes,
