COLORECTAL APPOINTMENT AFTER CAPSULE ENDOSCOPY

Hi Everyone

New to the forum. I recently had a capsule endoscopy and have just received a letter to attend the Colorectal Clinic. The letter is vague, I'm just wondering other people's experiences and if this will likely be an appointment to receive my results.

Bit of background, I'm 43. I've pretty much had bowel issues since I was young, chronic constipation, little tears at my anus that would bleed. It improved as I got older but I've always been bloated, not regular on going to the loo and have piles. So occasionally still got a bit of fresh blood on the paper. But that was my normal. i never really bothered the doctors as it didnt affect my daily life.

Fast forward til the last few months, wake up everyday with kidney pain, shooting pains in my abdomen in bottom sometimes, bloating burny feeling in abdomen, change in bowel frequency and stool type. Mucus in stools.

I suffered a ruptured appendix on holiday in October and since then my bowels or digestive tract has never really returned to nnormal.

I saw my GP on my return and had a positive FIT test. Then 2 weeks ago had a capsule colonoscopy.

I'm trying to not worry and keep positive, but I'll not lie, I just have this horrible feeling that it is bowel cancer. When I was crippled with pain with my appendicitis (at the time unknown what it was) , my thoughts at that time were I've either got a blockage (tumour) or it's my appendix. Then was releived it was appendicitis in a way as I'd be fixed. But my aunt died from bowel cancer and just with all my symptoms feel that something just isn't right.

Since I've been home, my mind races thinking that the appendicitis was actually caused by something more sinister.

I guess I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst just incase it is

  • Hi Stepho-Dee and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and for the worry they and your appointment with the colorectal clinic are causing.
