Lymph nodes biopsy supraclavicular

I had a biopsy on my lymph nodes supraclavicular 4 days ago . But wondering how long it takes for my results to come back .

  • Please help me my mind is all over the place with worry

  • Just frustrated with the wait . Some say lymph nodes take longer to biopsy is that true

  • Hi Sebby and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately we can't say how long it will take for your results to come back but if you get in touch with your GP they may be able to chase this up for you.

Waiting for results is always difficult but our community are here for you and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and advice.

I hope some of the tips and advice given in this article will help to ease your mind as well but if you feel it may help to talk things through with one of our nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They are really easy to talk to and will do all they can to answer your questions and support you during this anxious time.

We're thinking of you Sebby and hope you receive good news when the time comes.

    All the best,

  • Hi Sebby,

How're you doing? It's such an anxious time isn't it?

Did you have ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration biopsy? If so, my sonographer said the results would take 7-10 days. Not sure if the area yours is in may be different as mine was thyroid and lymph nodes, but I hope this gives you an idea.

My biopsy was last week (24th Jan ) and I am due to meet a consultant on Monday (5th Feb), to hopefully get my results from fine needle aspiration on my Thyroid, and I have a CT scan tomorrow in the meantime.

I hope everything goes well for you. Take care!

  • I had I general anaesthetic quite deep lymph nodes  under collar bone and one near right lung biopsy . Had them done on evening of 24th Jan. So I rang them and they said it's still in the process. But I asked them ENT if it's cancer will I know earlier. But they say no not really as the lymph nodes take awhile and depends on each clinic too. I got a follow up appointment at the haematology clinic on 6 march . So it's just the waiting game . Regards Sebby

  • Hi Sebby,

I'm really sorry to say that node removal results are taking a long time to come back so that's why they've given you an appointment next month. Even 14 years ago when I had my nodes removed it took 2 weeks for the result. It's a very anxious time for you and all we can suggest is that you find ways to distract yourself as much as possible. Perhaps try some meditation or mindfulness or a good long walk in the fresh air & countryside to calm your thoughts for a while. If anxiety gets too much don't be afraid to see your GP for some temporary medication to help. Good luck, I hope you aren't waiting too much longer & that the results bring good news,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)

  • Hi  just read your posts and wondered how you are? Did you get your results back? I’m in a similar situation -  both my supraclavicular nodes are really swollen and I’ve also got a large lump (4cm) in my left armpit. I’m being sent for an USS next week. So worried. Ive found it hard to find anyone who is experiencing these symptoms with these specific nodes. Hope you’re ok.
