  • Hello Paulac,

You did the right thing in going to the GP after you noticed that one of your breasts was sore and itched and felt heavier than the other one. It's important to get things checked when we noticed that there is something that doesn't feel quite right or normal. It's normal to feel worried after your GP referred you to the breast clinic but you will be in the best possible hands and try not to anticipate the worst as a great majority of referrals to the breast clinic do not end up being cancer. Our website has useful information on being referred to the breast clinic and Breast Cancer Now has produced this useful information which I hope will help you prepare for your appointment.

As nothing can replace hearing from personal experiences, I will now let our members who have in the past been referred to the breast clinic come forth and share their experience with you.

Wishing you the very best of luck for your appointment and keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,
