Colposcopy, LLETZ then MRI and CT scan

Hi all. so in Nov I had a smear test then in early Dec I had a hospital appointment (did not know what for) where I was told the results of the smear were abnormal - high grade severe and they were going to do a colposcopy and biopsy, there and then, I wasn't expecting that. Late Dec I get a letter saying the results from the biopsy were abnormal CIN 3 and I need to go in for a  LLETZ procedure to remove the pre-cancerous cells. I was freaking out a bit but went ahead and had it done. Was told the results will be in 6-8 weeks, silly me I thought I was done.

A week later (last week) I get a call from the hospital saying I need to have an MRI and can I come in the next day and then come in for a CT scan the day after. I also got a letter saying I have another hospital appointment at a different hospital. No more information, no reason given, no results. Trying to understand and find out more information, I googled the specialist's name and she's a gynaecological surgeon but also the Lead of cancer. That's when I started worrying a bit and came to the conclusion (with my vast medical knowledge lol) that they must've found something and are doing the scans to determine what stage or how far it's spread. My appointment is now in 2 days and I've been feeling anxious

  • Welcome to the forum, Scatch212.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

Going through unexpected medical procedures and awaiting results can be incredibly stressful. On the other hand, it's positive that you've taken the necessary steps to address the abnormal results and undergo the LLETZ procedure.

While I can't provide medical advice, I wanted to say that before going into your next appointment it might be helpful to prepare any questions you have for the specialist to gain a better understanding of the situation.

Remember, this community is here for you. Many have faced similar experiences and I hope they will be here soon to offer support.

Last but not least, I wish you the best for your upcoming appointment and hope for positive news.

    All the best,
