Thought it was a cyst

Hi All

I’ve been to the breast clinic today when the dr examined me he said he was certain it was a cyst only for the mammogram to show something different. Suddenly found myself being told I had a very suspicious growth but it was only small and luckily not in my lymph nodes. I’m so anxious have to have an mri before 2/2 and have been told when I go back I should take someone with me. I’m just worried and looking for some comfort I suppose or just to feel I’m not alone.  I’m 44 with 16 and 17 year olds and a wonderful husband.

  • I am so sorry you are going through this, as they haven't done the MRI yet they may not have all the answers. Did they do a biopsy? Hoping that when you go back it's positive news. Unfortunately from my family history when they have been asked to take someone with them it's because they need to discuss treatment planning. You are never alone stay strong xx

  • I’m 38, diagnosed at 36. Dr, surgeon and radiologist thought it was a cyst even after mammogram and ultrasound. Biopsy said otherwise. Grade 3, triple negative breast cancer. Single mum, 2 children who are now 13 and 11. Terrified of what the world would be for them if I died. Been cancer free since april, finish chemo in 2 weeks (I needed 24 rounds, most types need 6 rounds so wouldn’t go on as long as mine) Keep in mind that although cancer is an awful disease, breast cancer is very treatable now and most people survive. Treatment isn’t easy but mentally it’s easier than waiting on results. If it is cancer try and think right, head down power through, it’s a year or 2 out of your life to buy the rest of your life and you can do it.

  • They did 2 biopsies, I have the mri on Friday so that are moving quickly. I know in my heart it’s not good news I could tell by their faces when I said I thought it was a cyst. Thank you I am feeling more able today. Xx

  • Oh wow you have been through it haven’t you! I don’t know how you have managed alone you are a true warrior! Thank you for your kindness and sharing your story with me I needed to see this. You’ve made me feel stronger. Xx

  • All the very best to you! X
