2ww gastroenterology loss of appetite and weight loss

Hi,

I'm feeling nervous at the minute, I've been referred by my G.P under the 2ww pathway to the gastroenterology specialist. In March 2023 I had an episode of loss of appetite that last around 2 months which went away on it's own but not 100%. It started back up again at the end of Sept 2023 and I still don't have an appetite, some days are better then others and I can eat more but then that causes other issues. On the days I do eat I end up feeling incredibly full and bloated after only small amounts but feel like I've had an all you can eat buffet. I also experience nausea as well as burp quite a lot after meals. I have also lost just over a stone since October without changing my diet (other than loss of appetite).

My appointment is on Friday which is a clinic appointment (which I thought it would be an endoscopy given how the G.P spoke) I hope all is well but I can't help but feel nervous and scared.

Does anyone else have any experiences they can share? x

  • Hello Dunn87,

    Thank you for posting.

Awaiting a medical appointment, especially under the circumstances you described, can be quite difficult so it's natural to feel a range of emotions during this time. Hopeflly others who can relate to your experience will be here shortly to chat with you.

If you feel comfortable, consider writing down any questions or concerns you have before the appointment to ensure that you discuss everything with the specialist.

The other thing I wanted to mention is that if you feel that asking someone with a medical background some questions before your next appointment, our lovely team of nurses would be happy to chat with you. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040

Wishing you the best for your appointment and hoping for positive outcomes.
