Should I be worried?

Hello,

in November I after few weeks of discomfort in my left part of body  I end up on AE and they found I have kidney stone which after that were really good taken care of. That ct scan showed some low attenuation left lobe liver. So I was referred to do ultrasound to do few weeks after. After scan radiologist told me to not be worry because she can see sth really small but after few days I have received letter saying there is possible lession on liver and I was referred to do another CT scan. That was done before Christmas and few days ago I have received another call that now I was referred for MRi scan.
my biggest concern is that between those scans is doctor (urologist who was treating me for kidney stone ) never had contacted me to speak about anything. I never received copy of results and when I have asked urology department for result from last ct scan I was told that radiologist left message „there is still some uncertainty”. Now I am waiting for MRI and I understand that possibly I am panicking too much but is it a normal practice that doctor is not consulting with you any scans and you are just referred to another ones. Should I be worry if there are some „uncertainties”?

thank you

  • Hello J_T91,

I can imagine you are feeling rather confused at the moment and being told there is still some uncertainty doesn't really give you any clarity or peace of mind at the moment. Try not to worry too much though if you can - it's good that they are being thorough and the MRI should provide definite answers. Waiting for the MRI and then again for the results is by no means easy though and I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope as you are waiting for important news. I can understand though why you would want to know why these scans have been ordered and what was meant by the word 'uncertainties' - perhaps you could try and get in touch with your GP who may have access to all your medical notes or your urologist to try and find out more. They may have a little bit more information for you as to why these additional scans are being carried out.

Hopefully you won't need to wait too long for your results and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern. Other members of our community may have experienced similar issues before and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

  • Thank you for that.

like I said I know I am panicking, but there few things I don’t understand because I tried to speak with doctor but it always end up on a call with urology admin(or anyone picking up phone).

I just found in my nhs app there is a record of biopsy of lesion done in my ureter during stone removal procedure and no one told me about that was done I obviously I don’t know its result. I guess it might be ok because it was done on 6th dec.

But an idea - could be it that just found out sth and now they double check a liver as well? But why is so not much information getting to me?
tried to speak with my GP but all I got was - „ contact hospital”:)
