Lump on scalp

Hi, I found a 1cm lump on my scalp a couple of months ago, with a scaly red patch of skin on top. After sending pictures to my GP they said I needed to be seen promptly. I saw the nurse practitioner who didn't perform an examination and actually look at the area, he just reached his arm out and felt it for a second, and said "yep thats under the skin". I was a bit stressed at the time so didn't mention the patch of skin that I'd sent the pictures of. He referred me for a routine ultrasound, and I am still waiting 6 weeks later (about 2 months since I noticed the lump) for my ultrasound appointment. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation. I know it could just be a cyst but the appointment with the nurse didn't give me much reassurance as it wasn't examined.

  • Hi Stripes19 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry for the worry this lump and the red scaly patch of skin on your scalp is causing.

I'm glad to hear you've been referred and hopefully it won't be too much longer now until an appointment comes through. If you want to try and speed up the process you could try getting in touch with the hospital and letting them know you're willing to take any cancellations that come up. Alternatively, you could ask your GP to chase this up for you.

Contending with feelings of uncertainty and anxiousness after a GP appointment can be very difficult but our community are here for you and I'm sure some of our members will stop by soon to offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,
