Positive QFit and cal protection test

I recently visited my GP as I was experiencing rectal bleeding, (red blood) stomach pains and cramps and losing weight without trying.

I was referred for a QFit test which came back positive (32ug/g) which is high compared to the normal range of below 10. I then waited for my calprotectin which has come back as 132 ug/g. The GP says they want to retest within 4 weeks but a colonoscopy is the route they want to go down anyway due to the QFit results. All my bloods were normal. On examination by the GP they did notice a large anal skin tag.

I am only 23 but there is a history of bowel cancer from my grandad and I am filled with worry and dread of what they may be.

  • Welcome to the forum Campbell286 although I'm sorry to hear the results of your Qfit and calprotectin tests were high, and for the worry this is causing.

I hope you can take some comfort from knowing that many of our members have also had high readings from these tests, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

If you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer any other questions you may have in relation to this whilst you wait.

I do hope your next set of test results bring better news but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Campbell and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,
