Am I worrying for no reason ?

Hi everyone ! I’m new here , I have to be honest I’m a ball of anxiety and I just can’t stop myself from searching Google endlessly.
as of recent I’ve had a few things going on health wise , in the last 4 months I’ve had

-transvaginal scan with the following results : Mildly thickened endometrium at the fundus. Features suggestive of a right ovarian endometriotic cyst

- ultrasound of my kidneys : mild hydronephrosis

I think my worry stems from my Nan being diagnosed with cervical cancer not too many years ago and now that’s all I can think whenever anything comes back on results.
I feel as though GP’s keep palming me off as I’m only 23 but I have made them aware that I’m currently struggling with things such as

- foul discharge (TMI sorry )

- pain during and after intercourse with slight bleeding

- back pain

-UTI’s

- and (another tmi) but like an old urine smell in my underwear ? ( I shower and wipe after I use the toilet).
-heavy periods

all I was told is to drink more water and maybe see a gynaecologist in June and even then I’m not sure they would offer me a smear.
I don’t know what I’m looking for … maybe peace of mind to ease my anxiety ?!
(I’m also a mother to 2 toddlers and still no smear ).

  • Hello Worldofworry and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through and for the worry this is causing.

It's very frustrating when you feel like you're not being listened to but if your symptoms have not improved, or got worse, you need to let your GP know. If you can, try and emphasise how much of an impact this is having on your day to day life as well as your mental health. I know this may be easier said than done, but hopefully one of your GPs will listen and help you figure out what's going on. You could try speaking to a practice nurse at your surgery as well.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will be along soon to offer their support and advice but in the meantime, if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our nurses, they'll be available next week on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m.

We're thinking of you Worldofworry and will have our fingers crossed you're able to get some peace of mind over this soon.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
