Collarbone Lymph Node - Anyone else / advice?

I’m 27 y/o and in 2021, April - I found 2 lymph nodes along my collarbone, one each side.

I have seen a dermatologist who said it was a lymph node and not lipoma but wasn’t concerned, I’ve seen many GPS who wasn’t concerned, but I booked myself in for a private ultrasound (2021) this came back as benign, reactive lymph nodes- finally some peace!

2 years later ( Feb 2023 ) I was concerned as to why they were still there, I saw a private ENT consultant who wasn’t worried and I asked for another scan, privately. The scan confirmed they hadn’t changed and benign. Finally I can put this to bed…

Until… I am 22 weeks pregnant, last Thursday ( 4 days ago ) I had the flu vaccine in my left arm, come the Saturday ( 2 days ago ) I noticed randomly that the left collarbone lymph node has doubled in size - the right is still the same.

I have 0 symptoms otherwise.

i am hoping it’s the flu vaccine and it’ll go back down, I saw my GP today, she said tiny, under threshold and wiggly. she isn’t concerned at all and told me to leave it a few weeks, stop touching it and see if it goes down in a few weeks.

the waiting game feels like forever, so similar stories / stories of reassurance will be fab

  • Hi Mumofhals,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your concerns. I am not a doctor, but I'm sure that the nurse who gave me my last joint COVID and flu vaccination, advised that I might have problems with my lymph nodes. This may explain why yours feel larger now than they did before. Many of us get reactionary lymph node swelling, due to minor infections, such as toothache, sore throat, cold, etc.. These will usually resolve, but don't always do so. The fact that they don't resolve, doesn't always indicate that there is anything untoward. You will naturally want to make sure that all is fine when you are expecting. Trust in the doctors, but it sounds like a game of wait and watch for the time being.

I sincerely hope that all goes well with your pregnancy.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi, I had same after covid jab, being that I had just got over endometrial cancer I was so worried so I rang oncology department who said they had taken few calls that day ranging from armpit lump to collarbone but sent me for ultrasound anyway and was nothing to worry about.

  • Hi Mario,

I am sorry to hear that you had a scare with your vaccination too, but glad to hear that there was nothing to worry about.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
