Weird breast symptoms, anyone free to chat

Hi all,

Long story short I thought I had pulled my right chest muscle, had underarm and chest pain in November.
This didn’t get better, which prompted me to check my breasts and armpit.
From checking my breasts, my right has now become really tender, equally my nipple is also appearing ‘different’. It seems a lot bigger on the areola and the actual nipple is thicker.

I have been to the GP twice, who couldn’t find any lumps but said I had grainy breast tissue in both breasts. When I visited for the second time she referred me to the breast clinic, she said purely for my anxiety over this and she had no worries.

However 3 days on and my right nipple is now really sore and I would say almost inflammed.

I have obviously done the thing we all do and Google, and I’m convinced it’s cancer, along the lines of IBC.

I don’t know how I’m going to last another 10 days waiting for the appointment,  I’ve really struggled the last 3 days to even just cope day to day, I have two young kids and I just look at them and want to cry. We live really remotely so there is no private place I could go for a scan either.

I don’t even know what I am asking for, a hand hold?

  • Hi  I've got a breast clinic appointment on Tuesday here if you need a chat xx

  • Hi LJT,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your breast concerns. Waiting to be seen at the breast clinic is always an anxious wait. Have you got your appointment through yet? It normally takes up to 2 weeks from the date of referral, to get this. It is unusual to have pain with breast cancer and there is usually a lump to be felt. One mistake you've made is to look at Google. Most of us would advise against this. Much of the information there is aimed at the more spectacular cases, won't relate to you, won't give you any answers, yet will serve to scare you even further.

Is there any heat in your breast - I wonder if you might have an infection? If so, you may need some antibiotics to clear this up. Only 20% of those referred to the breast clinic, so the chances are still hopeful for you.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer, within a year of one another. It is scary, but the treatment is "doable". I am now 14 years on and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
