Panicking about unknown ct results

So they found an abdominal mass a few weeks ago and I had a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis area yesterday.

I got a call from the gynaecologist apartment this morning asking me to book a blood test today with pathology and if I couldn’t get the appointment today, I needed to call them back so they could do it. They also said I would need to go for another CT scan for the chest. I know the discussed me at a team meeting this morning

I have an appointment on Tuesday to see the consultant, they wouldn’t tell me on the phone what was found on the CT scan and advise I should bring someone with me.

i am freaking out a bit now. Would they get back so quickly for something other than cancer?

  • Hello Lil1988,

What a stressful few weeks it has been for you! It's all a waiting game now of waiting for CT scan results with all the additional stress as well you've had with having to do blood tests and go for another CT scan which will prolong the wait and anxiety you are experiencing. Have a look at these helpful tips which will hopefully help you cope while waiting for news and keep away if you can from the temptation to look things up on Google as it will only make you believe the worst and won't give you reliable answers. Only a couple of days now before you see the consultant. It's hard to know really what it all means - the fact that they are getting back so quickly doesn't necessarily mean it's cancer but it's good things are moving forward fast so that you can have a diagnosis very soon.

Best of luck for Tuesday and if you get a chance do come back here and update us on what they've told you. We'll be thinking of you in the coming days and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been in a similar situation before.

    Best wishes,
