Biopsy

I've been referred for a hysteroscopy and biopsy and I've already cancelled once as my mental health can't cope with it.

All advise is I must have it...that doesn't really help.

I had some bleeding but nothing now for weeks....surely there is a alternative test even if it's not as accurate.

I can't take much more.

  • Hello Dondon23

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so anxious about the tests that have been recommended to you. I'm not sure if you've seen the specialist team or if these tests have been recommended based on other information.

Please do speak to your GP about how you're feeling. If you've not yet seen the Consultant they will be able to liaise with the team and explain the concerns that you have. If you have already seen the specialist then do speak to them again and explain the situation. It may be that they're able to carry out the tests under a general anaesthetic or sedation but this is only something that can be decided after discussion with your care providers.

If you need additional support in advocating for your health care then you might consider getting in touch with PALS. Part of their role is to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.

If you think it might help to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I'm sure they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can.

I do hope that you're able to find the support you need Dondon23 to move forward.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for replying, I've seen a consultant and discharged myself and have a gp appointment on Monday, but I'm now having panic attacks so I really don't want the GA they have offered me.

I feel totally stuck and alone.

  • I'm glad to hear that you have another appointment arranged with your GP on Monday. Hopefully, they will be able to help put a plan in place to help improve things for you.

In the meantime, here's some information on the NHS website about getting help with anxiety. There's also some information about health anxiety that you may find helpful.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
