Hard Immobile Breast/Chest Lump

Hello,

I seen my GP this evening for a hard immobile lump on the inner upper quadrant of my left breast. It’s quite high and nearly boarding my chest. Only way I can describe it is half of a grape but hard.

I noticed it about a month ago and thought I’d leave it for 4 weeks to see if it changed or moved etc. it hasn’t. It’s stayed the same. It’s not painful at all.

The dr advised that it is smooth and doesn’t feel in any way nasty but she can’t be 100% sure and would rather send me to the clinic to rule it out. She also said it’s very rounded and firm. And suggested either a lymph node or fibroadenomas. She also said the letter I’ll receive will seem daunting but I’ve received one of those letters before (it was all ok) so I’m prepared this time haha.

I’m 29 and have a 3 year old. Has anyone had something similar before? I’m trying my hardest to not let my mind run wild but easier said than done x

  • Hi Charlie,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you are in this worrying situation. Despite the anxiety, you are doing the right thing by getting it checked out. These letters are always daunting, but they are standard generic speak. It is reassuring that your GP didn't think that this was anything nasty, and I sincerely hope that she is right. Try to steer clear of Google, as it centres on the more spectacular cases, which won't apply to you, won't give you any answers, but will scare you further.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer within a year of each other. That was all 14 years ago now and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life. Your appointment should come through within 2 weeks, although the actual appointment date may be a little further ahead.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.  We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
