Help

Hello

wonder if anyone to help and answer me the following questions I find a lump in my right breast on the 11th December I had to wait a week for an appointment at the doctors.. i have then been referred to the hospital on the 7/01 and now just had a missed call off them I’m worried that they are cancelling my appointment ? Do they ring and rebook you ? I didn’t even know the lump was there as I’ve had no pain.I usually check my breasts at least once a month but I don’t know why and I’ve not checked them this month I just totally forgot. When I did check I have a large lump right above my nipple that’s very hard and hardly’s moves. I’ve had lumps before which were cyst’s or fibroadenomas in my left breast which you can easily move and they hurt I’ve had these removed and drained. I can tell this is different and I’m now panicking help xx

  • HI Lee,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your concerns and I hope that they are not cancelling your appointment, due to the doctor's strike. Do you have a consultant's name on the appointment letter? If so, you could phone his/her secretary and say that you've noticed a missed call. It is hard to say why they have phoned you, as they could also have a cancellation and be trying to bring your appointment forward. If they are cancelling it and you have to wait a while for another, it might be worth saying that you' be willing to accept any cancellations, as this can sometimes get you further up the list.

This is always a worrying wait and, our overactive imaginations don't help. Fortunately, things are seldom as bad as we imagine. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer within a year of each other. That was all 14 years ago and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
