HPV low risk

Hi everyone,  I really need some advice please

Im going to take you back first , so about 6months ago my periods started getting heavy so much to the point where I would have to change my towels and clothes so much as u would bleed straight through.  Then about 3 months ago while having sex with my husband I was in immediate pain and the pain continued for sometime after. Since then I have been getting severe aboriginal pain , still bleeding heavy and to scared to have sex as I know I will still be in pain. I have had tests done for fibriods and enemtrotis and all was negative. I've just had the results from my smear and I have low risk HPV and cells are normal. I have been told to have the test done again in a yrs time but something now doesn't seem right. Please can anyone advise should I contact my doctor about this as on my results letter it states if I am suffering with any of the about then I should contact them, but the knew all of this before the smear was done.

  • Hello Lizzy83

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health problems recently and that despite some initial tests you're no further forward with a diagnosis.

It's good to know that you've had a recent cervical screening test and that the cells are normal. For women who present with low-risk HPV, it's standard practice to rescreen again in 12 months so try not to worry too much about this. You can read more about HPV on the Jo's Trust website.

However, this obviously doesn't solve your issues so please do go back to the GP so that they can arrange further tests or a referral to try to improve things.

I do hope that you get some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
