Stomach Pain

Hello. Just after some advice basically. Its only been about 3 days now but I've been suffering from this uncomfortable cramp-like pain in the middle of my abdomen (just above the belly button). Its hard to describe, it is a bit sharp, kinda fades in and out, but is very brief only lasting around 6 seconds or so maybe. There is no pattern to it, it just comes and goes whenever, sometimes a couple times close together quickly, sometimes I'm fine for an hour or more. At the same time I've been suffering with diarrhea (very loose stools, not watery diarrhea) which has made me feel a bit bloated (is that normal?). This all came about out of nowhere Monday evening really, so not very long ago and apart from those issues I feel generally okay but I'm still worried about it. Should I be worried or am I letting my anxiety get the best of me? I can't help but look up online about symptoms and that never helps my anxiety.

  • I went to my walk-in today for some help. Explained everything, the doctor (I presume doctor) had a good feel around my abdomen as expected. He reckoned I have an excess of stomach acid and trapped wind because he could tell my stomach was bloated, and this was causing the intermittent pains and such. Also seemed to lean towards stress maybe being a factor. Anyway he prescribed me Omeprazole gastro-resistant tablets. Having read about these they seem to be mostly for acid reflux and according to the leaflet inside they can possibly cause stomach upset and bloating? So, should I really be taking them? I want to get rid of my pain and bloating. Is this just the usual spiel they have to put on these things just to cover themselves or will it actually do this? I'm not entirely convinced this was the correct diagnosis to be honest but that's my anxiety again.

Also, I did actually find some Buscopan that I was given back in 2020 when, coincidentally, I had a very painful similar problem (although it didn't linger like this). Would Buscopan maybe be better? I vaguely recall it worked quite quickly and seems like it fits the bill better after reading more about it.
