Possible recurrence?

Not sure this is the right thread but hey, we’ll see!
I was diagnosed with Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS) at 14, a whole 15 years ago! I had the tumour removed from my tricep followed by radiotherapy and went into remission in 2014.. discharged in 2021! Im now 29, have a wonderful boyfriend and we share an amazing little girl.

On and off I’ve had pain in my right thumb, nothing lasting more than a week and then totally going, no lump or any other symptom. Fast forward a month or so and I’ve had the same full aching, heaviness and tingling sensation down my arm where I had the tumour initially removed from, again denial or just being ignorant, I hadn’t thought much into it. Until tonight, tonight I found the lump and I am distraught.

I suppose why I’m here is to see if anyone has had something similar and can reassure me it could all just be a coincidence? Am I jumping the gun and being paranoid? Is this really round 2? I’d just like some positivity, or anything, just need some hope as what seems to be ‘it’ (side note I’ve not slept for 2 days now so if this doesn’t make sense please forgive me)

  • Hello Greendoor03,

The best thing to do is to go and see your doctor about these problems, if you haven't already. It's to speak to them if you have any symptoms that you're worried about. When you’re worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to thinkthe worst and look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

I hope this is helpful, and all the best
