Breast biopsy

Hi all my daughter got biopsy done last Monday and they rang the Tuesday saying her results were back and she has an appointment this week Wednesday with consultant . It started off after her 2 miscarriages and then inverted nipple and lump behind it. I am going off my head with worry but she seems to be taking it well .  I have a horrible sick feeling all week and the wait is horrible. Am I looking into it to much or am I right with thinking the biopsy results were very quick and because she is asked to come see consultant that it’s not good news . At my wits end with worry .

  • Hi TanyaB,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

We all tend to read too much into things at this stage. I am so sorry to hear of all that your poor daughter has been through. Most of us would agree that waiting to be seen and then waiting for results, is one of the hardest parts of our cancer journey. The reason for her getting her results so quickly, could just be down to the doctors trying to clear as many cases as possible before Christmas. Most consultants prefer to give their patients the results of any tests in person, regardless of the outcome. In some busier clinic, this is not always possible and they have to resort to giving them in a telephone conversation or by post. Most biopsy results come back within 1-2weeks, so 9 days is within normal parameters. Is she taking someone with her when she attends the hospital on Wednesday? It is always a good idea to do so.

Try to remind yourself that no amount of worry will change the outcome. I sincerely hope that all turns out well for her - it sounds as if she deserves some luck!

Please keep in touch and let us know how she gets on. We are always here for both of you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
