Supracavicular lymph node - left

Hi -

I have a swollen lymph node ( I think ) or it could be a lipoma.

The small lump which is about 1cm at the short axis just above my collarbone and is soft , moveable , non tender. No redness or other swelling., The lump is not visible but is palpable.

I have no other symptoms at all & had a full blood count done in August ( satisfactory)

I have been to the doctor who has referred me to ENT.,

Everything I read about this is pretty much pointing to abdominal cancer. I have no symptoms in that area & no changes.

So , my question is are Supracavicular lymph nodes ( Virchows node ) always cancerous or can I have an underlying infection that I’m not aware of ? Also , I have polycystic kidney disease and have had to be on codeine long term for a misaligned bone - could this be related to my kidney function at all. I know when my kidneys are struggling they can react.

Thank you for any help or information around this.

  • Welcome to the forum Charlie although I'm sorry for the worry your lymph node is causing.

Unfortunately I can't answer the questions you've asked in your post but our cancer nurses may be able help so if you'd like to get their thoughts on this, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to give you the information you're seeking and put your mind at ease.

Hopefully you will hear back from some of our members who have been in a similar position soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Charlie and wishing you all the best with your ENT appointment.

  • Hiya, did you get answers?

I have this, I’ve had 1 either side since 2021. I’ve had 2 scans and seen many doctors and an ENT consultant, none have been worried about it being by my collarbone.

im now worried again as my left one has grown in size, but only since the flu vaccination I had 4 days ago in my left arm. Im hopeful it’s this…. Im scared!
