Worried sick pre-colonoscopy

Hi, I’m new here and signed in after a sleepless night and too much searching the internet (I KNOW I shouldn’t have!)

In my late 50s & have been referred for urgent colonoscopy (9 days still to go) for ‘suspected GI cancer’ - FIT was normal but my calprotectin is above 250. No blood but I went to GP because I’m all blocked up and bowels are definitely unhappy.
I realise I have to just wait it out now but if anyone has any practical advice I’d so appreciate it - even if it’s just so I don’t feel alone.

grateful to find this forum :)

  • Hi Katbear and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and for the worry your upcoming colonoscopy is causing.

Waiting for tests is never easy, especially when you're not sure what it might entail, but I hope this information we have about the procedure will help to put your mind at ease.

As this is quite a popular talking point within the community, I'm sure it won't be long until you receive some useful tips and advice but if you have any further questions, or would just like to talk things through with someone, then you're very welcome to get in touch with our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help.

We're here for you Katbear and wishing you all the best with your colonoscopy in a weeks time.

    All the best,

  • Thank you Steph,

like almost everyone here it seems the waiting is beyond stressful-I may try to chat to a professional as it’s hard on family and friends too.
My tummy feels worse than ever but not sure if it’s nerves or what is inside!!! Crazy

    Thanks for the wishes
