Started of simple

I was put through by my gp via the 2 week portal today I had a surgery to remove a growth from my vocal cord. Just had a call from the surgeon who’s order a CT scan and explained there was a bumpy area behind my vocal cords.  In his wards Cancer is on the list

  • Hi Bigolbear and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

I'm sorry to hear that the growth that you've had removed may be cancerous.

I know this time of uncertainty must be very difficult to cope with and, understandably, causing a lot of worry but I'm glad you've reached out to us as so many of our members have been in a similar situation, so you are not alone, and I'm sure it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and advice.

If you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m, or if it's easier, you can make a new post with any questions or concerns you may have in their section of the forum just here.

We're here for you Bigolbear and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Steph thanks for your reply. As I said pollop was removed on Friday and sent to pathology. Register said he was unsure why was past my vocal cords as it appears a bit lumpy so a CT scan on Friday. Can I ask is it normal for your jaw muscles the ache after vocal cord surgery

  • Unfortunately I can't answer this question as I'm not medically trained but do keep an eye on it and if it doesn't improve, or gets worse, then let your GP know.

Our nurses may be able to offer some insight on this as well so do get in touch with them via their section of the forum that I've linked you to in my previous post if you'd like to find out more.

Wishing you all the best for Friday Bigolbear.

    Kind regards,
