Need advise

My son (7 years old) has been struggling with abdominal pain for over 3 months. He was put on omeprazole with suspected heartburn.  He then had an ultrasound which showed mesteric adinitis and fecal calprotectin of 400mg+ showing inflammation.

He was put on triple therapy for h pylori but he still has elevated temperatures every day and the pain continues.

Dr is advising an endoscopy and a colonscopy but asking us to repeat the stool test once he finishes the antibiotics.

How likely is this to be malignant?

  • Hello Kiva

I'm sorry to hear that your darling son is struggling with these symptoms at the moment. It's naturally a very worrying time for you and understandable that you're concerned.

Hopefully the additional tests that have been recommended will bring some answers and reassurance. In the meantime, I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some answers soon and that the Dr's are able to get your son back to good health quickly.

    Best wishes,
