Burning pain and lump in breast

Hi all, I'm new in here and like lots of you, slightly freaking out. I've had a burning pain in my left breast for a week or so, I did an e consult and gp called me in the next day.  She said ahe could feel a lump where the pain is (I have tried to feel it but cant) and has referred me under the 2WR.  I saw the referral and she has ticked 'likely cancer' box and not 'symptoms that could be ....' so as you can imagine, I'm worrying myself silly.  Not sure what answer I want really, just want to reach out and say hello ! Ps. I'm 52, on HRT and never had any issues before with lumps x

  • That's how you get on the 2 week pathway. Had anything else been ticked it would probably have been a lonnnnnnnnng wait. As much as it's a scary thing to see, you want that box ticked as it gets you seen to pronto. The statistics are out there, it's something like 8 out of 10 women who get referred on the same pathway have benign conditions.

Seriously, it doesn't mean its likely cancer at all, just a lump that needs to be checked out as soon as poss. I know you'll take little or no comfort from this because it's natural to worry, but where there is doubt, it's better to be seen early. Look at the amount of breast referral posts on here and almost all of them turn out to be nothing. Hopefully you find yourself in that group too.
