Birthmark behind eye

Hi, I attended routine eye test yesterday where optician told me I have a birthmark at the back of my left eye, he said it had not been seen before so he checked several times more and confirmed that the was a birthmark with a white mark in the middle. He said he thought it nothing to worry about but he was referring me to eye unit as urgent, obviously it am very concerned, should I be, he also said I probably wouldn’t get a referral for at least a month and the appointment could be anything up to a year, is this normal timespan, should I pay privately it cut the waiting time?

I'm sorry to hear about your recent experience. It's natural to feel concerned, but it's positive that your optician doesn't seem overly alarmed.

As others here can gell you, waiting times for NHS appointments can vary, and it's not uncommon for there to be a delay. If you're particularly anxious and considering private options, it might be worth exploring. In the meantime, try to stay as informed as possible about your condition, and if your concerns persist, consider discussing them with your doctors.

    Wishing you the best,
