Very Upset and Frightened

I had a hysteroscopy and womb biopsy on the 27October.

Consultant removed polys and didn't seem concerned. The blood spotting-my symptoms- stopped after the procedure.

I rang yesterday to see if my results were in. The secretary said they weren't back and to phone again next week.

Today, at 4-I had a call from the secretary asking me to come and see the consultant tomorrow.

Does this mean terrible result? I am literally sick with worry.

  • Probably not. Most likely it means the results are in and the consultant has a window where he can see you. They could be bad o alternatively, they could be good and they might want to reassure you as quickly as possible. You can't really tell anything from the speed of the appointment.

  • MargaretMary. Bless you for replying. I have been sat up all night terrified and watching this thread.

There is only a few hours left but I'm going to hang onto your words until then.

  • Thank you, Margaret Mary.

I don't have cancer but one of the polyps removed had pre-cancerous cells. So, I can either have a hysterotomy or a coil fitted.

I feel much better but last night was awful. I was so pleased to read your kind words and they gave me something to hold onto. You made things better for me and I was and am grateful, Thank you.

  • Hi Miss Mapp

i have been through an identical situation as you…complex atypical hyperplasia (pre cancerous cells) in one polyp. I was recommended a hysterectomy but on the day was sent home because my blood sugar level was too high…hysterectomy rescheduled for 3 months…in the interim I had a Mirena coil and I hated it, I had bleeding every day for those 3 months.

I had a hysterectomy (everything removed) on 18th September this year, I was so glad to get rid of that coil! I went home the next day and am now fully recovered…

My hysterectomy biopsy results came through in 2 weeks and showed nothing, zilch…no cancer (40% of atypical hyperplasia cases show cancer after biopsy following hysterectomy) and no hyperplasia…so mine was contained within just one polyp.

I can’t tell you what to do but I’m so glad I had the hysterectomy (even though I had a broken arm at the time) and came home looking like I was expecting triplets, and I no longer have the worry of “what if” hanging over me anymore.

    Good luck x
