Swollen area in cheek non painful

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar? I have a swollen, puffy type area above my jaw bone in one of my cheeks. It doesn’t seem to extend to next to the ear/tragus but more at the middle towards front of cheeknder cheekbone. A few centimetres at least and no lump to speak of just feels puffy or swollen, slightly visible under certain light and not painful.

I’ve had an ultrasound done and was told they couldn’t see anything and parotid looked normal, I’m being further referred for an mri. But in the meantime I’m worried sick about what it could be.

Can ultrasound see through the muscles of your face?  I’m worried about what it may have missed.

Thank you

  • I'm sorry to hear about the swollen area in one of your cheeks and for the worry this is causing.

I can't answer your question about the ultrasound but we do have a very helpful team of cancer nurses that may be able to help so if you'd like to get their thoughts on this you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their support and advice to you soon but in the meantime we're thinking of you Mrs.CMS and wishing you all the best with your upcoming MRI.

    Kind regards,
