CT scan after colonoscopy

Good morning

my husband had a colonoscopy on Monday after a poo test found blood.  He has had various blood tests and is anaemic but all other results were ok.

the colonoscopy found a cancerous tumour and he is booked for a ct scan on Monday.  He has spoken to a couple of other people who have had a bowel cancer diagnosis and have had treatment but neither had a ct scan.  I’m worried now - does this mean they think the cancer has spread?  Much appreciate any advice.  Thank you

  • I had a CT scan after my diagnosis of thyroid cancer and later had a whole body iodine scan, even though thyroid cancer rarely spreads outside the neck and mine had not. I don't know the normal situation after a bowel cancer diagnosis, but I wouldn't make any assumptions. There are all kinds of reasons why different people may have different tests. It could just be different doctors being more or less thorough.

  • Thank you for replying - I know I’m ‘over thinking’!!
glad your thyroid cancer has not spread.  Best wishes to you x

  • Hi Heady1, I think when Jenny referred you over here she meant for you to join in the conversation on “positive fit test and colonoscopy results” which is further down or even on another page now but you will find a lot of info on it.

My husband had 6 polyps removed the other week, he did have a CT scan before the colonoscopy. Hope you join in the conversation and that your husbands ok xx
