Possible testicular cancer symptoms

Hi, first post here.

The last few months I’ve been getting aches/pains in either my testicles and/or groin area. I have no injury. It’s not every day, in fact sometimes I can go several days without any symptoms. I have self-examined and can’t feel any lumps. Other symptoms worth mentioning; the aches/pains are sometimes accompanied with a tummy ache. I’ve also been getting some random pelvic pains, by random I mean they are often in different places each time (but still pelvic region). Another symptom that may or may not be connected is about 2 months ago I had some collarbone pain. Again, no injury. It actually woke me up one night.
Fast forward to today and I saw a doctor for the first time regarding these symptoms. Initially he was going to prescribe antibiotics (!) as he said I may have an inflamed testicle. He then examined me in case it was a hernia, but felt no lumps or bumps in groin area. He then got me (whilst lying down) to rotate my legs, presumably to see if it caused any pelvic pain - it didn’t. He then changed his mind about the antibiotics. Now I have to see a physiotherapist in a few weeks, and he’s also referring me for an ultrasound. Going by the current state of the NHS god knows when this will be.
Anyway, has anyone here had/got testicular cancer and do any of these symptoms sound familiar?

Many thanks for taking the time to read this. By the way, I’m 52 years old.

  • Hello nightcrawler,

I am so sorry to hear about the aches and pains you have been getting in your testicles and groin area. You did well though to go and see a doctor about this and I can imagine you are a little anxious as you are waiting to be referred for an ultrasound. I hope that you won't have to wait too long to be seen but try not to worry too much though or anticipate what it might be as there are so many reasons other than cancer that could explain your symptoms. So try not to worry too much and keep away if you can from the temptation to look things up online. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news. It's reassuring that he felt no lumps or bumps in the area and the ultrasound will hopefully shed some light on what exactly is causing these issues.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had similar symptoms before and have had an ultrasound for similar issues and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. Keeping everything crossed for you that you won't have to wait too long and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,

  • Many thanks for your reply Lucie. I look forward to hearing from others who may have been in a similar situation to myself. I’ll report back when I have an update.
