Does this sound like Lung cancer?

Hey, i'm a 25 year old and quite worried atm. My symptoms started about a month ago when I caught a nasty cold, I had the usual cold symptoms. I felt better after about a week but had a bit of a dry cough and wheeze which is normal after a cold. The next week idk if related but i've been working out the timeline but I had the Flu and Covid Vaccine together and then immediately started going back to gym again. Everything was okay at first but the week after I started feeling unwell again my stomach like cramped up and the wheezing and cough came back, it was kind of still there but came back a bit worse. I went to Drs who listened to my chest and said he couldn't hear any crackling or anything unusual. I do have a history of ashtma but haven't used an inhaler or really had any problems for years. He prescribed me Steroids and an inhaler which ill admit did help to take off the wheeze but they really didn't make me feel good, i lost my appetite and didn't feel great. My weight has gone down a bit during that time from the period since i was ill to now i've lost about 6 pounds but i wasn't eating perfectly.
I have started going back to gym again but my lungs don't feel completely clear i'm only coughing occasionally like once or twice now normally when i deep breath and its dry, my appetite is back a bit, my weight still fluctuates a bit and i'm not really wheezing anymore. I haven't had any other tests like an x-ray just the initial listening to my chest, I have got an ashtma review in December. I don't have any chest or other pain. I do have quite bad health anxiety so could this just be an ashtma flare up cause i keep thinking the worse.
Is that I can still do pretty much everything at the gym reassuring?

I know cancer is rare in someone my age but its just been bothering me.

  • Hello Dnbray,

I am so sorry about all these symptoms you have been experiencing in the last month after you caught this nasty cold. You did well though to go to the doctor's to be examined and it's reassuring that you are only coughing occasionally now and your appetite is a bit better and you're not wheezing anymore. So even though it's been a slow process, it sounds like things are heading in the right direction. As you are still worried, it may be a good opportunity for you to bring up your concerns at the asthma review or to ask to talk to your GP about your fears. You are indeed very young and mentioned that you are suffering from health anxiety and it may be helpful to talk to someone about your anxiety - they will be able to help you I am sure. Unfortunately no one here will be able to tell you what your symptoms might be linked to so if you are feeling worried, the best thing to do is talk to your doctor or seek a second opinion just to get the reassurance you need at the moment and also to seek expert help for your health anxiety.

I hope you manage to speak to someone soon about your concerns and that you will hear from other members of our forum who have experienced similar symptoms before.

    Best wishes,
