Suspected bcc on nose

So through my Gp I was refered to dermotogist for melanoma on moles and SCC on scalp for new raised lesion. I was under the 2week but couldn’t wait so I went privately today and got a skin check the nurse that was checking mY skin ruled out my moles for melanoma and also ruled out Scc on my scalp when looking through her magnifying thingy. However she noticed a tiny little spot on the bridge of my nose that iv had for like 6 years and I know this through pictures taken back then. She took a picture to send to dermatologist. I asked her what she thought it may be and she said it’s either actinic keratosis or BCC. But I won’t know for sure until I get the report. Has anyone had skin checks where the nurse suspected and it came out as they were told. I’m waiting anxiously for my results and hoping it’s nothing too serious

  • Hello Sweetcheeks5,

I can imagine this is a worrying time for you as you are waiting for these results and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been in a similar situation and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

Waiting for results can be the hardest things and it's normal for our minds to go into overdrive and to anticipate the worst. Looking things online doesn't help so I would advise you stay well away from Google while you are waiting as this will otherwise make your anxiety worse and won't provide any satisfactory answers. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing of concern. There is information on our website on BCC and it does mention that it is very rare for basal cell skin cancer to spread to another part of the body so I hope this will reassure you a little. Whatever it is, it's good that it is being checked and that you find out more very soon so that it can be treated early and effectively.

    Best wishes,

  • I got news today that it’s basal cell and now im Worried about what will happen to my nose and if it will look life changing after they take it out as pictures online look scary

  • Hi,

I'm sorry you have your results and it's confirmed as a BCC. I don't have personal experience of Basal Cell but my dad & sister-in-law have had BCCs removed from their faces - forehead & under the eye. On both occasions the surgery was very neat & once it was healed it was hardly noticeable. I can't advise on what it will be like on your nose but they will try and make it as neat as possible. Give the dermatology department a ring and ask if a nurse can ring you back and explain what the surgery will entail. Good luck,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)

  • Thank you for your reply because it was through private and on a different area then the area the gp originally refered me to I wa advised by then lam to go to the appointment and show them the report and they will hopfully biopsy it to make a 100 percent confirmation and go from there :( I’m very worried as I have 2 young children and worried there mummy won’t look the same especially as Iv had this tiny spot on my nose for like 6years so now I’m worried it’s gone deep into cartilage or bone as it’s ok the bridge of my nose

  • Hi there. I'm just wondering how your removal went ? I've been confirmed bcc on my inner canthus and after I had a lesion for 3 years before doing anything about it as I just thought it was a blackhead . I'm nor worried about how far it's spread
