Going out of my mind

I went to the drs on 27th September as I had a lump what I suspected a symptom from my hrt meds, I've had a lump before due to it. Was checked over and as I thought it was nothing serious. Whilst I was there dr asked if she can check the other breast too. Upon checking she said she can feel a hard flat lump (I had checked myself the night before but was looking for lumps not a flat mass) she said it is very concerning and considering my family history of cancer said I needed to stop my hrt and be seen asap so had referred me as 2ww.

I hadn't heard anything by the second week so called the drs who gave me the number for the clinic. Upon speaking to them I was informed that I would be seen within 10 weeks, they had recieved my referral and confirmed it was sent as urgent.

A week on and I got a call asking if I would be willing to go to a hospital an hour away to which I agreed, only to be given an appointment on 17th November!! That's 7 weeks.

I'm on week 5 of waiting and it's driving me insane. It's all I can think about, I'm not sleeping properly and all I do is cry. My mum passed away of cancer at 55 and I'm terrified I'm going down the same route as her and being made to wait so long I'm worried if it is C then would this delay cause any treatment to not be as effective.

How can they make people wait for so long to be seen. It's literally driving me insane
