Ca125 results

Hi, thank you for letting me join.
I’m a 44yr old mum who has recently been having some symptoms, mainly persistent cramping on one side and frequently needing to go to the toilet as well as bloating off and on. We have a strong family history of cancer on my maternal side so I’ve been particularly alert to symptoms.

I’ve had the ca125 test done previously once in 2019 and once in 2021 and both results were around 9. My most recent one was 2 weeks ago and it’s come back as 22.6. I know this is still in range but should this be something to keep an eye on? it’s more than doubled the previous amount is this totally normal to fluctuate like this? The results were just on my app down as normal so I haven’t had anyone to ask. I do have a scan waiting to be booked so guess I’ll have a better idea then. I hate all the waiting and don’t want to bother the GP especially if this is all normal.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  • Hello VP220

I am sorry to hear that you've recently had some ongoing health concerns. It's good to know that you've already seen your GP and the CA125 test they requested returned a result within normal range.

CA125 results can be impacted by lots of different things including ovarian cancer, endometriosis, pregnancy, and your menstrual cycle so try not to worry about the small fluctuation that you've seen since your previous test results.

As things haven't resolved it's certainly worth speaking with your GP again about things as there may be further investigations that they want to arrange so that they can find out what is responsible for these symptoms.

I do hope that they're able to get to the bottom of this soon and improve things for you.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
